QuoteWerks & Microsoft Business Central
For use with: QuoteWerks v4.0 build 17 to v24.0 build 4.16
About the User: this project was commissioned by a client
who manufactures, distributes through resellers and sells industrial cleaning
equipment. Having relatively recently implemented Microsoft Dynamics CRM and QuoteWerks, and gained significant
efficiencies in their ways of working, the client wanted to similarly improve
their manufacturing, order processing and accounting systems. Having looked at
the solutions available, they chose to become early adopters of the relatively new
Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central solution.
Project Brief: in the absence of an existing integration between
QuoteWerks and Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, the client approached us
as proven QuoteWerks integration developers. The client wanted to use QuoteWerks
just for the quoting function of the business and use MSBC for maintaining
Products, Stock, Customer Product Pricing and Sales / Purchase Order Processing. The brief
for the project therefore was to read Product, Stock and Customer Pricing from MSBC and
write Sales Orders back.
Features:
- Reading Product, Stock and Customer Pricing details from MSBC on a scheduled basis to update a QuoteWerks native Product Data Source. (Note that due to the relative newness of the Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central solution and therefore also its API there is not currently an option to query the Product list ‘live’ and so we developed a synchronisation process which would update a QuoteWerks native Product database with Products from MSBC. The User would then use QuoteWerks’ out-of-the-box features for Product selection.)
- Reading Stock and Customer Product Pricing from MSBC on User request. (Ref. note above: while we are not able to query the Product list on other criteria, it is possible to retrieve the details of one individual specified Product to update particular details on the current document.)
- Writing a Sales Order to MSBC on request from a QuoteWerks Tools menu option.
- *** NEW *** Writing a Purchase Order to MSBC on request from a QuoteWerks Tools menu option. (Made possible with the release of the MSBC API v2.0. Creating Purchase Orders was not previously possible via the v1.0 API.
- A comprehensive set of Configuration options to allow field mappings to be modified, etc.
Benefits:
- A considerable amount of time saved using an automated synchronisation process to update Product information as compared to manually exporting and importing.
- Quick, easy and accurate retrieval of up-to-date Customer Pricing information from MSBC.
- Up-to-date Stock information in QuoteWerks helping the User understand what they have available to supply immediately.
- Time saved and accuracy improved creating Sales & Purchase Orders as opposed to manually copy/pasting or exporting/importing between the two systems.
- Once configured, very easy to train users on the features.
- Additional functions which work seamlessly with QuoteWerks’ and MSBC’s out-of-the-box features.
